“God puts rainbows in the clouds so that each of us – in the dreariest and most dreaded moments – can see a possibility of hope"

Dylan Cecil 29/04/2008 - 19/08/2012

Tragic Accident

On Sunday 19th August 2012 the Cecil family from Kettering, were visiting Dylan's 'Seaside Nanny' and went for a trip to nearby Burnham-on-Sea.

Dylan, his Mummy, Daddy and two younger sisters (aged one and three) were happily playing in the shallow water on the jetty, when Dylan slipped off the edge and into the water.

Dylan never resurfaced! His Mum and Dad, as well as nearby onlookers all jumped in to save Dylan, but he could not be found.

Mum and Dad nearly also succumbed to the waters strong tidal currents, but were saved with the help of passers by.

Burnham’s Coastguards, RNLI, BARB Search and Rescue, and Police helicopters undertook a full-scale search in an attempt to find him.

Dylan’s lifeless body was discovered four days later when a beach walker noticed what appeared to be a child “sleeping on the sand” near the town’s sailing club.
