The Dylan Cecil Memorial Fund was set up and gained charity status in 2014. The charity was formed to provide holidays to people / families that have endured a tough time, due to ill-health. disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage, in the memory of 4 year old Dylan Cecil, who had tragically fell into the sea when holidaying with his family in Somerset in 2012 and drowned.

The charity was set up and is run by Dylan's family and representatives of the emergency services who searched for Dylan for four days.

Dylan was a lovable four year old boy on holiday with his parents and family enjoying the seaside as many of us do, when the unthinkable happened and Dylan slipped off the jetty into the water. Despite attempts to find Dylan from his family and bystanders, Dylan did not come back up until four days later. The passing of Dylan had, and continues to have a massive impact on his family and many people around the country. Dylan will not be forgotten and the charity set up in his memory will not just help those affected by this tragedy, but the families that benefit from the holidays given in his name.

Holidays provided by the charity are given by a nomination process. Potential recipients are nominated to the charity by individuals, organisations and other charities. The trustees look at all nominations and grant holidays to those that they consider most deserving. All recipients must meet the aims and objectives set out in our charity statement. Holidays in England have been given for weekend respite breaks to family weeks away. All nominees will be asked for proof from a professional.

We have been very lucky to have a lot of support across the country to enable us to carry out our objectives. From people and organisations assisting us in arranging of the holidays to fundraisers far and wide. Fundraising has taken place through many different forms including, a yearly football match, fundraising events at many businesses, organisations and clubs and personal donations to the charity.
